What exactly is Olaprep?

Olaprep is an education and academic advisory company that supports families through every stage of a child’s academic journey.

We combine tutoring, mentoring, school and university guidance, and long-term academic planning to help students improve academically, grow in confidence, and make better decisions about their future.

Is Olaprep just a tutoring company?

No. Tutoring is only one part of what we do.

We begin by understanding the student properly -  how they learn, what is holding them back, where they are struggling, and what they should realistically be aiming for.

From there, we build the right support structure around them. This may include tutoring, mentoring, university guidance, exam preparation, internship support, school placement advice, or ongoing academic management for the family.

Do you provide tutors for every subject?

We support students across a wide range of subjects and academic pathways, including GCSEs, IGCSEs, A-Levels, IB, university admissions tests, and undergraduate support.

More importantly, we focus on finding the right fit for each student. Every family begins with an assessment process so we can understand the student’s learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and goals before recommending one of our tutors or mentors.

Families also receive regular progress updates and ongoing guidance throughout the process.

What do your strategic mentors help with?

Our mentors support students beyond academics.

Depending on the student, mentoring may include:

  • Building confidence and motivation
  • Improving discipline and study habits
  • Time management and organisation
  • Academic planning and goal setting
  • Guidance around sixth form and university choices
  • Preparation for interviews and applications
  • Support identifying meaningful opportunities, competitions, internships, and extracurricular activities

Where possible, students are paired with mentors who have experience in the paths they are interested in pursuing themselves.

What types of problems have you helped families solve?

Every family’s situation is different, but examples include:

  • Helping students significantly improve their grades and confidence
  • Supporting families through GCSE, A-Level, IB, and university preparation
  • Advising on school, sixth form, and university choices
  • Supporting students through difficult academic transitions
  • Helping students reposition themselves after setbacks at school or university

  • Providing guidance during communication challenges between families and schools
  • Helping students identify stronger academic and early-career opportunities aligned with their strengths

How involved are parents in the process?

Very involved, if they want to be.

We believe strong communication with families is important.

Parents receive regular updates and have ongoing access to the team so they understand how the student is progressing and where additional support may be needed.

Can Olaprep help if my child lacks motivation or confidence?

Yes. In many cases, academic struggles are not only caused by subject difficulty.

Students may be overwhelmed, disorganised, discouraged, lacking confidence, or unsure about what they are working towards. This is why our mentoring and strategic guidance are often just as important as tutoring itself.

Do you offer short-term support or long-term guidance?

Both.

Some families come to us for support around a specific exam or application cycle. Others work with us over several years as their child progresses through school, sixth form, university applications, and early career decisions

What makes Olaprep’s tutoring different?

Our tutoring is designed to be more structured and involved than traditional weekly sessions.

We begin by understanding how your child learns, where they are struggling, and what support they need most.

From there, we provide personalised tutoring, regular progress updates, and ongoing academic guidance tailored to their development over time.

This allows us to work with families internationally and gives students access to tutors who are best suited to their academic needs, regardless of location.

Our online model has been highly effective for maintaining consistency, flexibility, and regular communication with families.

What experience do your tutors have?

Our tutors come from strong academic and professional backgrounds, with experience across leading exam boards and competitive academic pathways.

Some have taught or worked within highly regarded schools and educational institutions, while others have extensive experience preparing students for demanding exams, selective schools, and university-level study.

Above all, we focus on tutors who can communicate clearly, build confidence, and support long-term academic progress.

How do you tailor your support to each child and family?

Every child’s academic profile, personality, and goals are different.

We begin by understanding the student properly before recommending schools, academic pathways, or preparation strategies.

Our guidance is tailored to each family’s priorities, the student’s strengths, and their long-term direction.

When should families begin preparing for school admissions?

This depends on the school and entry point, but many families begin preparing 2–4 years in advance for competitive schools and boarding schools.

Early preparation gives students time to build strong academic foundations, confidence, and familiarity with entrance exams and interviews without unnecessary pressure.

We also support families applying at shorter notice, including relocations, mid-stage transitions, and late applications.

How do you select tutors for entrance exam preparation?

Our tutors are selected based on subject expertise, teaching experience, and suitability for the student. Many have experience with leading exam boards, competitive school admissions, and selective academic pathways.

We also consider teaching style, personality, and how each student learns to ensure the right fit.

  • 11+ and 13+ entrance exams

  • School and sixth form selection
  • Academic assessments
  • Entrance exam preparation
  • Interview preparation
  • Admissions planning and timelines
  • Ongoing academic guidance
Do you only support high-performing students?

No.

We work with a wide range of students and families.

Some students are already high-achieving and preparing for competitive schools, while others may need more support with confidence, academic consistency, or finding an environment that suits them better.

Can you support international families?

Yes. We work with families both in the UK and internationally.

We regularly support families navigating the UK education system, including school placements, boarding schools, academic pathways, and admissions processes.

What will a mentor help my child with?

A mentor helps students navigate the wider academic and personal challenges that often affect performance and confidence.

This may include:

  • Subject and sixth form decisions
  • Revision structure and study habits
  • Time management and accountability
  • University and career planning
  • Internship and extracurricular guidance
  • Building confidence and motivation
  • Managing academic pressure and uncertainty

Sometimes students simply need guidance from someone who has already achieved many of the outcomes they are aiming for.

Our mentors come from universities including University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London and understand the academic pathways, pressures and opportunities students are navigating.

Does my child need mentoring if they already have a tutor?

In many cases, yes.

A tutor may help improve performance in a subject, but students can still struggle with motivation, consistency, organisation or uncertainty about their future.Mentoring provides the structure and accountability that many students are missing outside of lessons.

For some students, this is the difference between simply working harder and actually making consistent long-term progress.

What type of student benefits from mentoring?

Mentoring can benefit students at many different stages.

Some students are struggling academically or lacking confidence. Others are already high-performing but want clearer direction, stronger habits and guidance towards competitive opportunities.

We commonly support students who:

  • Feel overwhelmed or disorganised
  • Lack motivation or consistency
  • Need help planning for university
  • Are unsure which opportunities to pursue
  • Want guidance from someone who has already been through the process successfully
How are mentors selected?

We work with mentors who have strong academic backgrounds and firsthand experience navigating competitive academic environments.

Many have studied at leading universities and understand the realities of selective school admissions, university applications, internships and high academic expectations.

Beyond credentials, we look for mentors who can genuinely guide, motivate and build trust with students.

What outcomes does mentoring aim to achieve?

The goal of mentoring is to help students become more confident, focused and clear about their future.

Over time, students often develop:

  • Better academic habits
  • Greater consistency and accountability
  • Improved confidence
  • Clearer university and career direction
  • Stronger decision-making
  • Better preparation for competitive opportunities

The long-term goal is not just stronger grades, but a student who feels more capable, organised and prepared for what comes next.

What support do you provide for university applications?

We support students throughout the university application process, helping them make informed decisions and present the strongest possible application.

This may include:

•  Course and university selection
•  UCAS applications
•  Personal statements
•  Admissions tests
•  Interview preparation
•  Academic planning
•  Clearing and results day support

How does your university admissions support work?

Students are typically matched with a mentor who understands the pathway they are pursuing.

Their mentor works closely with them throughout the application process, helping them build a strong profile, make informed decisions, prepare applications, and stay organised around key deadlines.

Where additional academic support is needed, we can also provide specialist tutoring.

Do you help with personal statements?

Yes.

We help students develop personal statements that reflect their experiences, interests, and suitability for their chosen course.

Our role is to help students communicate their strengths clearly and effectively while ensuring the statement remains authentic to them.

Can you help students build a stronger profile before applying?

Yes.

University applications are often about more than grades alone.

We help students identify meaningful opportunities that strengthen their applications, which may include wider reading, super-curricular activities, competitions, work experience, research projects, leadership positions, and internships where appropriate.

Do you provide interview preparation?

Yes.

We support students preparing for university interviews through mock interviews, feedback sessions, and guidance on how to communicate their ideas confidently and effectively.

Do you support students during Clearing?

Yes.

Results day can be stressful and often requires quick decision-making.

We help students understand their options, evaluate available courses, and make informed choices during the Clearing process.

Can you help if a student needs to leave or change university?

Yes.

Students sometimes need to reconsider their academic pathway due to academic performance, personal circumstances, changing interests, or other factors.

We help families assess the situation, understand the options available, and determine the most appropriate next steps, whether that involves transferring courses, changing institutions, taking time out, or pursuing an alternative pathway.

Do you support international students?

Yes.

We work with students both in the UK and internationally.

We help international families understand university requirements, application processes, admissions timelines, and the academic expectations of UK universities.

When should students begin preparing for university applications?

The earlier the better.

Many students begin preparing seriously during Year 12 or the equivalent stage of education.

Starting early provides more time to explore courses, develop relevant experiences, strengthen academic performance, and prepare competitive applications without unnecessary pressure.
